Dishwasher Not Cleaning Properly? Repair Tips To Help

Check The Sprayer Arms
The sprayer arms on your dishwasher can clog with calcium caused by hard water. If you have hard water, it can cause a lot of damage throughout your home, especially to your dishwasher. Remove the sprayer arms and soak them in a warm water bath and some white vinegar. The white vinegar will help dissolve the calcium. If there is still some calcium inside the sprayer holes, use a toothpick to pick out the hard water, but be careful that you don't damage the sprayer arms themselves. Replace the sprayer arms and make sure that they are moving and spinning freely. If they aren't spinning properly, they will not be able to clean the dishes as well as they should. Remove anything that may be clogging the sprayer arms from moving, such as debris around the filter. Remove the filter beneath the sprayer arms and clean it out thoroughly.
Inspect The Water Lines
Inspect the water lines going to your dishwasher. Make sure they are on tightly and that the hot water line is working properly. If hot water isn't going to the dishwasher, it may not be able to properly clean the dishes in the dishwasher. If need be, run hot water in the sink close to the dishwasher so hot water will be in the lines already. If there is a water leak or any other issues, you may need to replace the water lines.
Inspect The Detergent Bin
If the detergent bin isn't opening, it isn't letting soap out as it should, which means the dishwasher isn't going to clean your dishes properly. Make sure the detergent bin is opening as it should and that the detergent you are using is the right type for your dishwasher. Clean the detergent bin and the latch that holds it in place. Remove any calcium buildup that may be causing a problem for the detergent bin opening.
